Strangle Fiction Review - chroniclesofchaos

The name and the artwork of severed and suspiciously phallic looking thumbs may imply more goregrind balderdash, but this prog metal crew are far removed from OTT horror. To be precise, their prog has more than a touch of the 'core to it, and they do settle into an occasional post-Pantera thrash groove. The vocal style offers no surprises and needs no further description, other than to say they are one of the better examples the modern movement has ejaculated. Of greater interest are the progressive moments, perhaps most apparent on "The Construct Nameless", replete with a ridiculous amount of time changes, the EP's highlight. Actually, all five songs are solid, but this easily requires the most rigorous attention, with the staccato "Centipede" running a close second. Overall, the music is nonlinear and convincing, but Freud would have a field day with the artwork.
